CrossFitter of the Month! – July Edition

We’ve decided to start awarding one hard-working, PR-chasing, smile-bearing member the “CrossFitter of the Month”!  Why?  To show how much we appreciate all your hard work, to reward that hard work, and to make sure everyone knows that while we measure results to gauge progress, all the other subtle aspects that make our gym the great place it is don’t go unnoticed.

This month, we’re proud to announce CrossFit Sudbury’s, “CrossFitter of the Month”

Maryse has come a long way since tumbling over boxes and cursing me for too many lunges and push presses.  We believe that her calm and positive demeanor and strong desire to improve in ALL aspects of fitness are a great representation of all that we hold dear at CrossFit Sudbury!

Here are her answers to some questions we asked her about her experiences:

Name: Maryse

Age: 24

Occupation: Academic Advisor, Laurentian University

What was your exercise experience prior to crossfit?

A few sprint triathlon’s, 5 km running races but honestly, I’ve only started taking interest in regular physical activity for about 3 years.

How long have you been doing crossfit and why do you choose to crossfit?

I have been at CrossFit Sudbury for 6 months.  I crossfit because it makes me feel strong and energized.  Every day is a new challenge and it’s all about bettering yourself.  You are the rising potential.

What is your favorite part about crossfit?

The variety and the functionality of the movements.  I am able to apply what I learn in crossfit to my everyday life.  Whether it’s carrying multiple cases of water bottles for an event at work, or helping friends move, I feel great.  Also, I really enjoy the relationship building that happens at crossfit.  You are a part of a community.

What are the accomplishments you are proud of? (Crossfit or non crossfit related)

The progress that I have made in this short time.  From getting the hang of double unders, to completing my first box jump, to deadlifting 213lb, it’s very rewarding.

Favorite workout or lift?

Back squats! 🙂
