CrossFitter of the Month – December 2014

Hey Folks!

This month we honour another amazing member who is quiet about their accomplishments but consistently strives for virtuosity and grace in all they do.  You can often find them making squat therapy look easy, and putting great tips to use from our coaches on days including olympic lifting technique.  We are very excited to announce Decembers CrossFitter of the month as…

A & J in NOLA

Andrea!

Here are Andrea’s answers to our questions!

Name: Andrea Larsen

Age: 51

Occupation: SK/Grade1 Teacher

What was your exercise experience prior to CrossFit?

Prior to crossfit, most of my exercise experience was during my teens and early twenties. I played on my high school volleyball and basketball teams and was a lifeguard and swim instructor during my summer job years.

How long have you been doing CrossFit and why do you choose to CrossFit?

I have been doing crossfit now for about a year and a half. When I turned 50, I knew that it was time to reinvest in myself for many reasons (overall health, aging, stage in my career & now I had the time!). Megan Bischoff talked very highly about it and was so encouraging, that I thought I would try it.

What is your favourite part about CrossFit?

I enjoy the variety of workouts, the growth that I have personally experienced both physically and mentally as well as the positive atmosphere and people that are there.

What are the accomplishments you are proud of? (CrossFit or non CrossFit related)

I am very proud and thankful for my 2 children, Christian and Allison (both who have tried crossfit since I started and have continued in various ways during their busy university school years). I am proud & thankful for my husband, John and our 26 year marriage. I am proud and thankful for the new journey that I am on since discovering crossfit. It has made me stronger (physically and mentally) and I feel better. I notice those differences everyday – doing even the simplest things!

Favorite workout or lift?

Gosh – don’t think that I have one of either. I think I am just enjoying the lifts and getting to know them a bit better (hopefully!) with each visit. The various combinations in the workouts are always “fun”.
