[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Hey Folks!

This month we’re very excited to recognize someone who’s made lots of progress both physically, and mentally.  This person is a regular to our gym and has used their time wisely, learning when to push the limits, and when to pace them out.  This person has always been easy to coach, and picks up on cues quickly.  We’re very proud and excited to announce Septembers CrossFitter of the Month as…[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_single_image image=”3326″ css_animation=”appear” alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Jessie!

Here are Jessie’s answers to our questions! 🙂

Name: Jessie Whalen

Age: Gracefully

Occupation: Stay at home mom

What was your exercise experience prior to crossfit?

Growing up as a tomboy, I played football (soccer) with the neighbourhood boys. I picked up running when I was 28 on and off as a means to keep fit until crossfit.

How long have you been doing crossfit and why do you choose to crossfit?

I’ve been doing crossfit now for about 8 months. Initially I started crossfit to lose the weight I had gained over a year of being sedentary. Four months into the program I knew there was more to it than just vanity, its now about becoming stronger, better and faster.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”3894″ css_animation=”appear” alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”400×600″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]What is your favorite part about crossfit?

It’s got to be the daily challenges that my body is put through and knowing that it’s able to conquer even if I have my doubts.  I love what its done to my overall confidence, its made me believe that anything is possible, I can accomplish anything that may seem tough, I can conquer life no matter what comes my way.  My other favourite part is the people, the community, we all suffer together and understand what each other are going through; and the coaches, they are motivating and believe in me hence I believe in myself.

What are the accomplishments you are proud of? (Crossfit or non-crossfit related)

Crossfit related I’m proud that I’m now able to do a 20” box jump, I can now do 10 standard push ups in a row without my arms turning to jello at 1.  I have been able to improve my lifts week to week and getting a few PR’s.  Non-crossfit related I’m proud of my kids that I’ve raised and continue to raise, they are caring and compassionate individuals.

Favorite workout or lift?

I love back squats and deadlifts and wall balls.  I’m working on loving the rower and burpees of course.

Anything  else you would like to share please feel free

I love all the coaches for helping bring out the best in me.  There’s one particular person that I feel needs my recognition in bringing out the best in me, they encourage me to lift one more, try one more, without that support I wouldn’t have tried harder and accomplished some of the lifts that I thought I wasn’t able to do, so I want to say thank you, your support has not gone unnoticed.

Thank you so much for the kind words and great energy you bring to the gym.  You always give your best and we couldn’t ask for more!  Keep up the great work![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
