CrossFitter of the Month – July 2018

Hey Folks!

It’s that time of Month – Our favourite – we get to highlight another one of our amazing members.  This month we’re going to feature someone who has been with us for a couple years now and is a mainstay in the evening classes.  This month we want to thank this person for their amazing energy and attitude when it comes to training, and being an awesome part of our community.  For August 2018, our CrossFitter of the month is…

Gen!  Here are her answers to our questions!

Name: Geneviève Krasowski

Age: 30

Occupation: Production Geologist for KGHM International

What was your exercise experience prior to CrossFit?

I swam competitively from a very young age and gave it up once I graduated high school.  I’ve swam on and off in between, and just recently got back into the water consistently. I dabbled in triathlons for a couple of seasons, attended YMCA classes, played squash regularly, paddled a few canoe races, tried my hand at yoga, but I never fully committed to anything the way I have since joining Crossfit.

How long have you been doing CrossFit and why do you choose to train with us?

I signed up for my fundamentals in August 2016 and haven’t looked back! I had just finished competing at the international level for Mine Rescue and I barely made it out alive – I was so out of shape! I knew things had to change. I’ve never been a gym goer – I’d be that person walking around, intimidated and not knowing the first thing about weights, but I wanted to branch out, meet new people and try something different. I googled Crossfit, and signed up the next day.

What is your favourite part about CrossFit Sudbury?

The sense of community, hands down! We’re all suffering together and pushing/encouraging one another through it all! The sense of accomplishment at the end of a tough WOD is also very satisfying.

What are the accomplishments you are proud of? (CrossFit or non-CrossFit related)

Crossfit wise, I am most proud of my level of commitment and more recently, my consistency. I’m also proud of my deadlift PR and my Mean Little Karen redemption (thanks Emily and Teddy)!

Outside of Crossfit, I am proud to be a mine rescue volunteer and being part of such an exceptional group of men and woman who put their time and effort into the cause. I’m also proud of my almost professional accreditation – It’s been a long time coming (just waiting on the paperwork).

Favourite workout or lift?

Deadlifts! There’s something about lifting really heavy weights. I also thrive on the rower – I welcome any rowing WOD.

Anything else you would like to share please feel free

Although I was hesitant to join Crossfit, I am SO happy I did. The hard work is very rewarding and worth it. Thank you, Crossfit Sudbury, and to all the coaches for your continued dedication and support.
