CrossFitter of the Month – March 2018

Hey Folks!

It’s early April, and you know what early in the month means?  CrossFitter of the Month time!  Yesssss.  This month we have the pleasure of highlighting a very consistent, fit, and a person who’s got a great sense of humour.  Whether it’s joking around about how easy the workouts are, how to approach a difficult new skill, or how to make the world a better place (more CFSuds, of course) – you’ve likely had a positive and uplifting conversation and workout with this person.  We’re lucky to have such a great community, built up by people like March’s CrossFitter of the Month…

Brad!

Here are Brad’s answers to our questions!

Name: Brad Ferguson

Age: 39

Occupation: Teacher

What was your exercise experience prior to CrossFit?

I played all kinds of sports growing up but started to love running when I was 13.  I was a competitive distance runner in high school and college and ran a couple decent half marathons shortly after that.  Unfortunately, adulthood with a couple of injuries kept things pretty inconsistent for the next 15 years.  Leaving me overweight and embarrassingly out of shape when I showed up for fundamentals.

How long have you been doing CrossFit and why do you choose to CrossFit?

I started Crossfit in the fall of 2016.(Thanks Tara for telling me what it was all about.  Thanks to Sara for getting me started on the right path during fundamentals.)  I keep doing Crossfit because it’s awesome and I feel great when I do it.  It has helped me to lose 50lbs while getting stronger, and I feel like an athlete again.

What is your favourite part about CrossFit?

My favourite part of Crossfit is definitely the people.   Both the members and the coaches.  It’s nice to share in suffering/progress with other great people.

I also love how everything is scalable and everyone can do the workout together.

What are the accomplishments you are proud of? (CrossFit or non-CrossFit related)

I’m really happy that I have completely recovered from my torn meniscus and have kept up an active lifestyle.  (I had feared that my “fit” days were well behind me.)

Favourite workout or lift?

Lately, things are going so well that my favourite workout is whichever one I just did.  Everyday I’m making progress, leaving me ecstatic (and exhausted) after every workout.   Otherwise, I have a special affection for Murph, and plan to really crush it someday.
